The Woodstock night will unite three great artists :
Alvin Lee, born in Nottingham in England, started to play the guitar at age 13 and formed the group "Ten Years After" at 15. In 1968, he became the band’s guitarist and vocalist and also wrote their songs. His Woodstock performance, filmed in the documentary made of the festival, is still today a standard for many guitarists.
Born in 1978 in Florida, Dana Fuchs arrived in New York when she was 19 years old. After her elder sister’s suicide, Dana decided to hang on to her passion : music. She then met Jon Diamond ; they put together "The Dana Fuchs Band" and played in the best blues clubs in New York. Two years later, Dana decided to write her own music, and she and Jon began to write songs in another style : rock music. Soon after, she was noticed by producers and her career was launched.
Born in Brooklyn, Richard P. Havens is the eldest of a family of nine children. At a very early age, he got his friends from his neighbourhood together in small groups of doo-wop singers, posted on every street corner. Aged 16, he joined the McCrea Gospel Singers. The reputation of Richie Havens as a solo artist spread rapidly. In 1965 and 1966, he recorded two demo albums, none of whose titles were recorded as singles. It was after meeting up with the legendary manager Albert Grossman that Richie Havens signed his first contract with the Verve record label, for whom he produced the Mixed Bag album in 1967. Then, in 1969, his voice cast its spell and electrified the crowds at the Woodstock Festival.
